I feel like this quite often and I sometimes wonder if maybe I am just crazy or from another world. Day by day I constantly see people just lacking common sense, manners, or just the function to contribute to any social standard of helping one another progress our society whether it be for the bigger picture or just small things.

By no way am I perfect or anything but I feel like I do a pretty good job of wanting to be a good person, self sufficient, and wanting to help out society in a productive way. I am one of those who tries to say "Thank You" "You're Welcome" "Please" whenever I can, I like to hold doors open for people, I tell people to have a good day, I get in the slow lane when people are behind me, I do make a conscious decisions to try and help people have a better day. When something needs to be done, I see what I can do without needed others help so not to bother others, and if I do need help I try to make it when they are available, not just when I need it done, why should you demand sometimes time if you aren't willing to take the time to plan it out better. If you know me, you know that I am often times a smart ass, blunt, honest, and always willing to make a joke. But sometimes I think I do cross the line of being honest and turning it into hurtful words which I know is wrong but why does it seem like other people are in a constant state of being..... douche bags.

Working in a service oriented industry I deal with people all the time whether it be customers, other employees, or wholesale customers and all of them have the same thing in common, attitude. I have a general feeling that all people are born good and in their hearts want to be good for the most part. Of course we have the absolute crazies but as far as the general population I think that we all want to do good, have good done to us, and live in a good world. So when I see people come in and out with just nasty attitudes for no reason, or at least no reason generated by me or whoever is helping them I don't understand how they can stand being like that. Example: Customer comes into my work, first thing I do is say, "How are you doing and what can I do for you." Their response, "I got a 97 Ford and I need a factory tube." I just asked them how they were doing and they don't even care, respond, or greet me back, they just go on with their demands. When I go through a drive-thru at a Burger King, I always say hi, hows it going, place my order with a please and say thank you. What is so hard about just being polite and trying to help someone have a better day? Wouldn't you expect the same? When I go to a store I always hold the door open for people even if they are still a few seconds behind me and I just don't get how some people will just let the door go when you are reaching for it. Why do people think its ok to complain to the employees at movie theatres about prices, the kid behind the popcorn doesn't make the price, he just scoops it. Why does everyone need to give him shit? It's not his fault that you decided to go to the movies or that you didn't make your own popcorn before you came.

I just can't fathom the reason for people not wanting to helpful to other people and polite. If there is one reason people can't say thank you or you're welcome I would love to hear it. Like I said before, I am no angel but I at least try to make a difference in someones day and attitude. Being polite doesn't cost you anything and the only thing it brings is positive feelings. Its a matter of paying it forward, you do 1 good deed to 2 people, and they do 1 good deed to 2 people, it grows and grows and as a whole betters society. So hopefully my good deeds will keep getting passed along and hopefully, next time you go to the drive-in, you ask the 16 year old kid how he is doing and tell him to have a good day. But hey, maybe I am just crazy for thinking we can all be good to one another.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://yojdawg.blogspot.com/2010/05/am-i-crazy-or-is-everyone-else.html' title='Am I Crazy? When I was 16 my parents bought me a1965 Bug and I had dreamed of fixing it up into an awesome bug that I could be proud of. Sadly I soon realized that fixing cars required time, money, and experience. All three I later found that I did not have and eventually sold it. Every since then I have always been wanting to get another bug and finish my dream. Seven years passed, I got a dog, wife, moved, moved back, and my lovely wife sent me an email about a Bug she had seen on Craigslist. I first wasn't too excited because I didn't have much money after moving and I remembered what happened last time I got a bug with no money. I then set up a time to go look at it and had mixed feelings. Once I saw it though I knew it had to be mine. I drove like a dream, was in excellent shape, and had an awesome price tag. Now that I have my bug I call it the White Knight (although the name may be changing) and am very thankful my wife Jessica found it for me. Working on it has given me a sense of happiness I think I have always been looking for. Each thing I do it brings me one step closer into being the dream I always had envisioned. Now I just have to convince my wife that buying parts is something I have to do. Stay tuned to see the progress of the evolving White Knight.

Gay Marriage

So California looks like they are going to let gay marriage become a legit marriage just as straight couples. Cool with me, I'm not gay so it doesn't really effect me but it's good to see barriers being broken down and equal opportunities for everyone. This one guy at work though seems to feel differently stating that it infringes on his rights, takes away from his marriage, goes against the bible, and isn't fair to straight couples. Keep in mind he is a very conservative (republican) person who holds close to his Christian faith and who holds himself as a true American Patriot. I am just a normal guy who he would consider liberal (democrat), no faith, open minded, and just feel everyone should be treated equally.
We get into a debate about whether or not gay marriage should be legal. Here are the thoughts.

Me---
I am all for gay marriage because everyone should be treated equally without judgement from religious ideas. I consider myself very Patriotic because I care very much for my country and feel the core principles were were built on are very important and logical for our country because we are not one type of people like most countries but yet a larger group of random types of cultures into one like trail mix. Going against gay marriage would be like striking out multiple lines in the Constitution for equal opportunities and creating another tear in society just as the Civil Rights movement that left many dead and lasting negative feelings towards one another. Was all the drama really needed over the fact that one person had different color skin than the other? So that is my political view on it and the fact that anyone who sets up laws against equal rights should not be allowed to call themselves an American. Why does it matter to you, what other people do as long as they aren't hurting you. Marriage was defined as being between a man and a woman but was that definition really justified for the time? Same sex couples really have only been coming out more and more in the past decade or so and with that comes new ideas, one of them being marriage. They Should have the same right to b e happy and unified as straight couples and not have to call it something else. If it is called something else, then they might as well sit at the back of the bus.

His Thoughts (which I feel go with most of the people who oppose same sex marriage)---
Marriage was defined as being between a man and a woman. God made Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve, God doesn't like gay people, it's not right, "they take it in the ass". Those are hi arguments which he feels very passionately about. I can respect the fact that he has an opinion, but I can't accept the fact that he thinks he is so American but all of his arguments are probably some of the most ridiculous arguments made by someone who claims to support our Constitution. Let's go over them shall we?
---Marriage defined as being between a man and a woman--This is probably his only good point because yes it was defined as that and i can respect that. But definitions are only made for what they can explain and at the time that was what was expected, marriage between a man and woman. Only recently have we seen more people coming out and wanting the same rights so in this sense I could see this definition being changed.
---God made Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve--I am so tired of hearing that stupid phrase. Yes if you believe in creation then yes this is what happened, but last time I checked Adam and Eve messed everything up and had kid without being married. Regardless, this isn't relevant because because our laws says there is a separation between church and state. "One nation under god" also not written for our time because of the different types of religion.
---"they take it in the ass"--- Probably one of the most ignorant and stupidest things for someone to say who is trying to make an argument. Not all gay people are men, for one, and not all of them do that. Even so, why does that matter to you, it's not your problem, it's not you, don't worry about what other people are doing.
---Takes away from his marriage---This I don't understand because marriage between a man and a woman has to do with love (hopefully) and so why can't others feel that same love? Some argue that saying "life partner" is better. I think that is just the same as making people drink out of another fountain.

So there are his and my points. I obviously agree with myself but I thought I'd shed some light onto some points that people make. People that claim to love America and want to hold its rights seem to always stretch this notion into a grey area where their own convictions effect the outcome. Why not just allow for an equal opportunity country like it was set up to be as long as it doesn't really hurt other people in some way. This doesn't hurt people because if it did, a lot of people would b e hurting right now because same sex couples are getting married, and if you haven't noticed, The Apocalypse didn't happen. Peace

J

P.S. Just because Gay Marriage is legal, doesn't mean you have to do it

Check this website out GayHate.com for info on hate crimes. Really interesting, those who may not like gay people should check it out too, it's different to see it at a different angle.

I just lost at an eating competition

Arnold for President: Foreseen in Demolition Man

Right now I am watching Demolition Man, the great American classic staring Sylvester Stallone, and not only do they accurately depict the future of L.A. where it is complete anarchy taken over by thugs in the year 1996. This movie makes many predictions into the future that are really quite amazing and would rival Nostradamus such as Taco Bell winning the restaurant war and becoming the only restaurant allowed to do business and is considered to be gourmet food. Also in the year 1996 people are frozen and brought back to life many years later without any negative physical impacts rather then put people in prison, good thing this sort of thing has been going on since 1996. Regardless of all their minor premonitions, Sandra Bullock tells Sylvester Stallone about the Schwarzenegger library that is dedicated to the late President Arnold Schwarzenegger. She then goes on to explain how Arnold became president after his huge popularity he was able to make a change to the constitution to allow him to become president. Keep in mind this movie was made way before the idea of him being governor was even thought of and he was still doing movies. This movie predicts that Arnold will one day be President which i highly believe will happen because this movie said so. Keep this in mind and pay attention to the future.

P.S.
